REVIEW: Captain America – The Winter Soldier

17 Apr captain america, captain america: the winter soldier, steve rogers, chris evans, scarlett johansson, black widow, natasha romanoff, marvel

This review contains no spoilers.

Captain America has always been, to me, the Superman of the Marvel heroes. Compared to all the other Marvel films, watching Captain America in action is like eating Wonder Bread: it looks pretty, but darn, it’s fairly dull. The first film, Captain America: The First Avenger was done as an introduction for the character, as well as a lead-in for the film, The Avengers. It was so obvious that it wasn’t created to be a standalone film that it almost hurt.

Captain America: The Winter Solider has fixed that problem.

Why You Should Check Out The CW’s ‘Arrow’

3 Apr arrow, stephen amell, oliver queen, cw, the cw network

Not every show on the CW Network is as awful as one may imagine. You may ask yourself, why would anyone ever willingly watch a show that does air on that network, considering how terrible many people  consider the channel? It doesn’t matter if you marathon every show that airs or if you wouldn’t touch the channel with a ten foot pole, anyone who loves the superhero genre, smart-ass characters, and portrayals of strong women should spend a few episodes checking out the CW’s rendition of Arrow. Viral Videos – How Manipulative Should They Be?

22 Mar kissing viral video, viral videos,

Every once in a while, I use this blog as a class assignment. I apologize for anyone who sees this post, wondering why their Teen Wolf recaps have been interrupted (or in the case of Season 3B, not started  [because I haven’t watched this season. Spoilers? Jeff Davis is awful?) or where there film reviews are.

But this was always a pop culture blog as well as a film&tv one. Just because I forgot doesn’t mean you should forget too!

Either way, by now you’ve probably heard about the viral video where two random strangers are filmed kissing.

REVIEW: 300 – Rise of an Empire

13 Mar 300, 300: rise of an empire, warner bros

This review contains light spoilers.

Were you a fan of the film 300? You know the one – with the dramatic gory shots, muscular men, and creator of ever popular phrases like “This. Is. SPARTA!” along with dramatically kicking people down large pits?  You’ve also probably heard of the new one, 300: Rise of an Empire. Considering the last film ended with the death of (spoilers!) 299 Spartans and the 300th leading a battle against Xerxes’ empire, you would probably expect that this was where the sequel would pick up, right? Not only that, but we’d get ample time with the characters we already know and love?

Wrong!

REVIEW: Vampire Academy

25 Feb vampire academy, rose hathaway, lissa dragomir, Zoey Deutch, lucy fry, Sarah hyland, weinstein company

This review contains little to no spoilers.

What’s your favorite book that’s been adapted into a movie? Is it one of the Harry Potter films? Part of The Lord of the Rings trilogy? How well do you think that they adapted? Did they stick to the plot or was the only thing similar to the book was the title of the movie? (I’m looking at you, World War Z.)

It’s importance the realize the difference between books that have been adapted into movies with the exact same plot and books that have been adapted into good movies. In that conundrum, we have the beginning of a new film series, Vampire Academy.

Well, it would have begin a new film series that might have made a lot of money if it wasn’t thoroughly and horrible crushed by The Lego Movie (and deservedly so).
