Why You Should Check Out The CW’s ‘Arrow’

3 Apr arrow, stephen amell, oliver queen, cw, the cw network

Not every show on the CW Network is as awful as one may imagine. You may ask yourself, why would anyone ever willingly watch a show that does air on that network, considering how terrible many people  consider the channel? It doesn’t matter if you marathon every show that airs or if you wouldn’t touch the channel with a ten foot pole, anyone who loves the superhero genre, smart-ass characters, and portrayals of strong women should spend a few episodes checking out the CW’s rendition of Arrow. Viral Videos – How Manipulative Should They Be?

22 Mar kissing viral video, viral videos,

Every once in a while, I use this blog as a class assignment. I apologize for anyone who sees this post, wondering why their Teen Wolf recaps have been interrupted (or in the case of Season 3B, not started  [because I haven’t watched this season. Spoilers? Jeff Davis is awful?) or where there film reviews are.

But this was always a pop culture blog as well as a film&tv one. Just because I forgot doesn’t mean you should forget too!

Either way, by now you’ve probably heard about the viral video where two random strangers are filmed kissing.

The Importance of Diverse, Women Led Shows

3 Feb scandal, kerry washington

Do you happen to remember watching The Proud Family when you were growing up? Maybe you even caught a glimpse of That’s So Raven? I know when both shows came on, I was glued to my television screen. Back when I was a kid, I grew up with lead characters on television that looked just like me, a young black woman. As I got older, main characters like me started to disappear. Instead of the Ravens, we now have the Barney Stinsons (How I Met Your Mother) or the Walter Whites (Breaking Bad). I must have taken the amount of minorities on television for granted, because after my childhood, minorities never seemed to lead shows.

Upcoming New Fall Shows I’m Excited About

15 Sep

Did you notice the title? Shows I’m excited about. Me. MEMEME. Not all the shows, not the best sounding shows, but shows I’m ready to watch for either the most random reasons or because why in the world not.

If you’re interested, I may/may not do recaps on some of these shows. Probably Sleep Hollow. BECAUSE I AM SO EXCITED and will be so disappointed if it’s terrible. :(

Summer 2013: The Summer of Flops

11 Jul

It’s always interesting to see what occurs to films that are released in the summer. Generally, you have your slew of box office hits like The Avengers; your box office poison, like Battleship, and movies in-between.

Every summer, without fail, there will be winners and losers. But is it always fair which movies do amazing at the box office and which flop so hard that even the studios are embarrassed?

Of course not. Welcome to Hollywood.

I dunno about you, but I know I thought this looked like a WINNER. (Image from: hollywood.com)

Although there are a lot of movies that were released this year, I’m focusing on White House Down, After Earth, The Lone Ranger, and Pacific Rim.

Why these movies? Because A) they were released around the same time, looking for a similar audience (same time being like, late May- early July as opposed to early May like Iron Man 3). B) I’m not including the animated films, even if Despicable Me 2 kicked The Lone Rangers ass. And C) Because I want to, go away.

Though this minion is my spirit animal.
